Bihar Trains Rural Youth in Drone Mapping for Land Records

Bihar’s Revenue Department has begun training rural youth in operating drones for land survey and digital mapping under the Swamitva Yojana. In Nalanda and Bhojpur, 300 youths have received hands-on training in flying drones, capturing parcel data, and using GIS software. The data helps update land records, resolve disputes, and issue property cards. Drones can cover 2–3 villages a day, increasing efficiency over manual surveys. Youth receive a monthly stipend and future employment priority in government survey projects. The initiative promotes transparency, skill-building, and income opportunities in rural tech sectors.
