Gujarat Pilots Blockchain for Tribal Forest Produce Markets

The Gujarat Tribal Welfare Department has implemented a blockchain-based tracking system for tendu, mahua, and honey in forest produce markets near Dang and Gir regions. Each consignment is tagged digitally from collection to sale in Adivasi trader collection centers using QR codes. Blockchain ensures immutable logs detailing quantity, quality, price, and trading partners. This transparency has already prevented price manipulation and ensured fair payment. Over 3,000 tribal gatherers benefit from better realization. The system also aided tracing adulterated goods. Plans are underway to expand across all FRP networks in tribal districts.
