Mumbai’s Bandra–Kurla Lake area has a pilot network of electric water taxis operating in clean urban lakes. These solar-augmented e-boats carry up to four passengers and are connected via an app offering ride-hailing services. The taxis charge at roof-mounted solar docks and complete each ride with zero emissions. Daily ridership averages 150, and residents report shorter commute times during rush hours. Visual displays inside the boats provide live air and water quality data. The project promotes eco-mobility and urban clean-water spaces, with plans to extend service to lakes in Thane and Navi Mumbai.
