The AP Fisheries Department, in partnership with a tech startup, has implemented an AI-driven fish health monitoring system in coastal aquaculture farms in Krishna and Godavari deltas. Underwater cameras capture fish behavior and body patterns, which are then analyzed in real-time to detect signs of diseases such as columnaris and fin rot. Alerts are sent to farm operators via mobile apps, suggesting treatments or isolation measures. Initial deployment across 50 farms resulted in a 30% reduction in fish mortality. The system is solar-powered and includes offline data buffering for areas with intermittent connectivity. AP plans to expand this model to inland tanks and shrimp farms.
